HFPC, the filament for 3D printed signs.

HFPC is the 3D printer filament for signs on the SG-S letter printers: a modified polycarbonate and PETG blend that prints at 215–250 °C, is rated from −40 °C to 65 °C and resists UV and oxidation, so printed letters can go outdoors. Ask us for a price. Below: the faces, the Filament Drier and the filaments for the SG-T1 100.

— 02Faces

Which machine makes which face.

Every SG-S letter printer prints the face in the same run. Sheet acrylic and infinity mirror are fitted to the printed letter afterwards.

  1. Printed face

Printed in the same run as the returns, in up to three colours, or four on the L2S and L2S PRO.

On the machine, in the same run

A letter G with a printed face, lit through the face and with a halo behind it, standing on the printer bed
Face-lit and halo · printed face
  2. Liquid acrylic

Poured into the printed letter and UV-cured on the machine, on the three Pro models. On the PRO ULTRA, in a single or double layer.

Poured, then UV-cured on a Pro model

A printed letter G with a cured yellow liquid-acrylic face, mirrored as it lies face-down on the bed
A cured liquid-acrylic face. Printed face-down, so the letter reads backwards on the bed
  3. Sheet acrylic

Cut acrylic fitted to the printed body after the print, as on a fabricated letter.

  4. Infinity mirror

A mirrored face over the LEDs for a deep, repeating tunnel of light.

— 04Sculpture printers

Filaments for the sculpture 3D printers.

The sculpture 3D printers are general-purpose machines that slice with Cura, S3D or other third-party software. The catalogue lists HFPC, PETG, PLA, ABS and more for them. The letter printers run HFPC.

HFPC
The letter filament, for outdoor and lit work: rated −40 °C to 65 °C and resistant to UV and oxidation.
PETG
The ease of printing of PLA with the strength and durability of ABS. It takes up moisture from the air, so store it dry.
PLA
Easy to print at lower temperatures, with no heated bed: prototypes, decorative pieces and everyday printing.
ABS
Strong but harder to print: it needs higher temperatures and a heated bed. Suits outdoor sculptures and display props once treated or painted. Print it with good ventilation.

Questions about materials

All questions

What is HFPC filament?

HFPC is the letter filament for the SG-S letter printers: a modified polycarbonate (PC) and PETG blend with functional additives, made for outdoor, lit signs. It prints at 215–250 °C with the bed at 55–60 °C.

Are 3D printed signs weatherproof?

Printed in HFPC, they are made for outdoor use: the catalogue rates HFPC from −40 °C to 65 °C and describes it as resistant to UV, oxidation, weather and impact.

Which filament do the letter printers use?

HFPC. The catalogue specifies it for every SG-S letter printer, and PMMA/HFPC for the SG-S 3D PRO ULTRA. PLA, PETG and ABS are for the sculpture 3D printers.

How much does HFPC cost?

Ask us for a price: tell us how many spools and which colours, and we'll come back within 1 working day.

Do I need a filament drier?

Damp filament prints with bubbles and stringing, so keep your spools dry. The SG-S 3D L1S, L1S PRO, L2S and L2S PRO, and the SG-T1 100 and SG-T1 60 sculpture printers, dry the filament on the machine. The separate Filament Drier takes up to 10 large rolls: ask us for its price.

Which faces can the letter printers make?

Every SG-S letter printer prints the face in the same run as the returns: up to three colours, or four on the SG-S 3D L2S and L2S PRO. The three Pro models, the SG-S 3D PRO ULTRA, L1S PRO and L2S PRO, also cure liquid acrylic faces with their UV curing. Sheet acrylic and infinity mirror are fitted to the printed letter after the print.
